DREAMWALKER: Key to Paradise by Pamela Moran

Pulled together through a world of dreams, Lena and Davis might have found the Key to Paradise. Can he convince her to take a chance, to believe in impossible possibilities, to hold on to their dream?

Excerpt:

Lena Andrews sat on a light blue beach towel, on warm island sand as a balmy breeze ruffled the loose strands of her short hair away from her face. An exotic, floral hint of fragrance lingered on the air and a brilliant sunset hovered over the horizon with bold reds giving way to golden oranges and falling into the deep blues of the water.

She wrapped her arms around her drawn up legs and rested her chin on her bare knees.

Naked in paradise.

Not too hard to figure this dream out, considering the two feet of snow outside her mountain cabin window, with more falling and not scheduled to stop until morning. The thought of trudging through all of that to get to the ski lodge and work tomorrow morning had had her burrowing down with the electric blanket on high and the covers over her head.

Yeah, sitting on a deserted island beach sounded blissful.

And warm.

She’d face the snow and the cold once the alarm blared and yanked her from this dream.

Arching her back, she rotated her shoulders then lifted her face to the gentle breeze to let it caress her skin. Blissful. The naked part, though. Hmmm. Puzzling.

“Well, hello.” A deep, gravelly, male voice came from the right, just behind her. Tingles of awareness careened across her skin.

What the – Lena’s shoulders came forward, that first instinctual urge to fold into herself. To minimize her vulnerability.

No. This is my dream, dammit.

She straightened her back and squared her shoulders before angling her head to look over her right shoulder.

Her breath caught. Held.

Well, hello was right.

Gavin Dunbar, liaison between the PSI and the government, is a low-level psychic himself. A man of the present who believes the future is too nebulous, too fluid - that it can't be trusted. His reasons are mired deep in a past he has no desire to examine. After all, in his world, having a soul-mate doesn't equate to happy-ever-after.

Tragedy has brought Calea Fontaine to a crossroads and has her reassessing her future without the man she loves. A seer from a long line of seers, Calea knows, firsthand, that while Fate might try to guide a person along a path, Free Will has a way of trumping Destiny.

Or does it?

Along the storm ravaged Oregon coast, a predator stalks Calea with an obsession born of a dark need, an overwhelming need to control and possess at any cost. The only obstacle is Gavin Dunbar.

GAVIN'S WOMAN

.... available late January, 2015 ....

I love trees. I love snow. Probably part of why I love living in the mountains. While we've had light dustings of snow earlier last month, the last two days of December brought our first real snowfall of the season.

The soft, fluffy stuff that carpets everything in a white blanket. That leaves a kind of hush over the air.

And it's been cold enough the snow should stick around for more than a day or two. We were away for Chirstmas and getting home was a bit more of a challenge than we'd anticipated when we left, even with checking the weather sites (snow chains, anyone? Thank goodness for 4x4!), the beauty of nature was worth the extra hassle.

I'm happy to be home today, snug in my warm house, with my husband also off for the day.

Tomorrow's soon enough to think about work. About laundry. The sun's glistening on all that white, the breeze is light, and today is my first 'snow day' of the year. What a wonderful start to 2015!

Here's hoping your New Year is bright and beautiful!

Last month I was in New York and captured this image at Rockefeller Center. I was too early for the tree, although it was there, hidden behind scaffolding and boards and had the entire area smelling of pine. But there were faerie lights up and ice skaters on the ice, and lots of people mulling around.

At night, the whole place seemed full of magic.

Merry Christmas and brightest blessings,

Pam

My sister collects ornaments. Mostly from her travels, but occasionally just because one catches her eye. I love visiting her home at Christmastime. There's the warmth of family, the love and laughter filling the air, that delicious bowl of homemade chili on Christmas Eve.

And her ornaments.

I admit, after greetings, hugs and kisses, I head to check out her tree and look for the newest additions. And it usually isn't long before I have my camera out of its bag.

This angel adorned her tree last year. I'm looking forward to seeing what I'll find this evening.

What's your favorite holiday tradition?

Happy Holidays everyone,

Pam

Facebook has nothing to do with this giveaway - it's all on me)!

To post, you will have to join the group but it's fun and all about Paranormal reads.

In other news, I've finished my edits for Gavin's Woman and the manuscript will be heading to my editorial team after Christmas. The story should be available mid-January!!! I'm excited about this book and looking forward to showing off the cover .... Stay tuned!

Books One and Two in the PSI Sentinel, Guardians of the Psychic Realm, are now available on iTunes -- just in time for the Holidays!

Stolen Spirit (Book One) is Jake Carrigan and Hannah Dixon's story. Hearing his dead ex-girlfriend's voice in an empty room is enough to make Jake question his sanity. Worse, Hannah insists she shouldn't have died. Now, she wants him to find her murderer. Once he starts digging, can he leave all those questions unanswered? The biggest question, though, is how is he supposed to walk away from her again?

Jake's sister, Rily Carrgigan, has her own story in Blind Sight (Book Two). Gabe Nicholetti, a strong psychic whose visions foretell death, knows he can't save the green-eyed, blonde haunting his sleepless nights. Rily is a dead woman. Or she will be in a matter of days as her past rushes forward to shatter her carefully constructed world. But Rily doesn't believe fate is absolute. How is she going to convince a man who's seen too many die that it's possible to save her life?

Stolen Spirit is available in ebook format at: Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, SmashwordsGoogle Books and iTunes. And in print at: Amazon

Blind Sight is also available in ebook format at: Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Smashwords, Google Books, and iTunes and in print at: Amazon.

Northwestern Oregon.

Early December, several years ago, I headed up north to visit two good friends who'd moved to the Portland area within a few months of each other. On a drizzly, chilly day the three of us decided to take a drive along a few back-roads, heading towards the coast, mostly just to see what we would see. With my camera never far away, this is one of the images I captured.

That trip was also the inspiration for the town of Eagle Crest, Jake and Rily Carrigan's hometown, where most of STOLEN SPIRIT and BLIND SIGHT take place.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, spent with family and friends you hold dear.

When fellow author and friend, Melissa Cutler, tagged me for a blog hop focusing on our writing process I scratched my head wondering what I'd gotten myself into with this blogging business. Luckily I was able to sneak a peak at Melissa's answers, nod my head a few times as I read through her post and had the thought - she makes this look easy. Maybe it's not so hard. Just chatting with a few friends about my writing and my stories.

Piece of cake, right?

1.) What am I working on/writing?

BLIND SIGHT came out towards the end of last month and since then I've been working on the next in the PSI Sentinel series: GAVIN'S WOMAN.

Gavin Dunbar, liaison between the PSI and the government, is a low-level psychic himself, a man of the present who believes the future is too nebulous, too fluid - that it can't be trusted. His reasons are mired deep in a past he has no desire to examine.

Calea Fontaine is a seer from a long line of seers. But she knows, firsthand, that while Fate might try to guide a person along a path, Free Will has a way of trumping destiny.

Or does it?

These two are about to find out .... And I get to go along for the ride!

2.) How does my work/writing differ from others in its genre?

I've always been fascinated by the psychic world. From seeing auras to having precognitive dreams, from Astrology to Tarot, from seeing and feeling ghosts to all of the Clair Senses, it all enthralls me. So writing the PSI Sentinels became a natural fit, one that feels right. Like it's what I'm supposed to do.

Now, while some of the things that happen in my stories are larger than life and push that psychic edge nearly to the point of what might be considered magic, I've worked to keep my characters gifts/talents rooted in a semblance of realism.

Sebastian Alexander's energy manipulation in ELSIE'S SECRET, Ben Garrett's use of Psychometry in STOLEN SPIRIT, Gabe Nicholetti's grounding in BLIND SIGHT along with Allison Davis' artwork and her use of the Tarot are all based on known PSI abilities.

If we're honest with ourselves, how many of 'us' were told stories about our Great Aunt Thelma who talked with Uncle Oliver who'd died or our Granny who had the gift of sight? If we shake your geology tree, there's no telling what might break loose.

3.) How does my writing process work?

Okay, so here's the sticky question. And the short answer is my process is a work in process! Each story idea starts in a different way. STOLEN SPIRIT literally started with a dream, although the unfolding story didn't follow that dream sequence, it is where I met Jake. ELSIE was the result of a what if game - what if Elsie Quartermaine had a secret bigger than her hero's? And the germ for BLIND SIGHT was gleamed from a picture in a magazine of a broad shouldered, Italian man who sat staring into the distance, brooding.

So I start with characters who quickly become real. Then I spend a lot of time with a pen and a notebook, working out their back-story, who they are and what's important to them, free-flowing the answers onto the paper. In between all of that I'm also working out a general feel for the plot and getting words into the computer.

I'm not sure I could write if I didn't have my notebook. Pen to paper. Maybe it's a kinetic energy type of thing, that feel of the pen rolling across the page.... Each story has several notebooks filled with everything from plot points to dialogue to actual whole scenes hand written with scribbles and extra notes all along the margins. What's funny is that I rarely refer back to those notes, which is probably good since I'm not sure even I could decipher some of those notes!

4.) Who's up next?

Ann Gimpel writes paranormal and contemporary fantasy novels with an ecological twist. She skis, hikes, climbs and on a good day is the alpha female of a wolf pack. Here's a little more about Ann:

Ann Gimpel is a clinical psychologist with a Jungian bent. Avocations include mountaineering, skiing, wilderness photography and, of course, writin. A lifelong aficionado of the unusual, she began writing speculative fiction a few years ago. Since then her short fiction has appeared in a number of webzines and anthologies. Her longer books run the gamut from urban fantasy to paranormal romance. She's published twenty books to date, with several more contracted for 2014.

A husband, grown children, grandchildren and three wolf hybrids round out her family.

Spent a good portion of the day catching up on my word count for the new PSI story, tentatively titled GAVIN'S WOMAN.

Gavin Dunbar is the secret liaison between Ben Garrett, head of the PSI Agency, and the director of Homeland Security. Calea Fontaine is an instructor at the Institute of Psychic Studies in Minnesota. The two have known each other for a long time. To say they have serious relationship issues is an understatement. I know they're giving me fits!

Hope everyone had a beautiful day and may you all find your share of the Easter Eggs!
